Córdoba

A thousand year old city situated in the Guadalquivir river basin surrounded by very fertile countryside.
It was established as the Andalusian capital during the Moorish invasion of the 8th century. There are ruins of the three walled cities which were successively built during the Roman, Moslem and Christian periods.

The Mosque, the Alcazar of the Christian Monarchs and its gardens, the Synagogue with its fine Mudejar plaster work, the ruins of Medina Azahara, an example of Moslem miltary and civil architecture, the typical nooks of the old Jewish Quarter, creating a sense of magic for visitors.

Many courtyards (Patios) are filled with special atmosphere, with a well in the center and decorated walls, with plants and flowers climbing up trellises.
Others are elegant with marble columns, cobble stones and fountains in a symmetrical setting. They are even more ornate during the beginning of May when the city celebrates its annual Patio Festival.
