Gibraltar

Drive along the Coastal Road to Gibraltar where you will cross the border, the tunnel and Punta Europa. Until Columbus sailed beyond the Pillars of Hercules, the Rock and the mountains of North Africa were thought to be situated on the edge of the earth. In 1713 Gibraltar was ceded to the British forming the last surviving colony of the British Empire. Visitors today can still enjoy such quaint ceremonies as the Changing of Guards at the Governor's Residence. After taking a magnificent view of the Straits from the summit of the Rock, visit the Caves of St. Michael as well as the monkey reservation. Afterwards you have time at your leisure for shopping before starting on the drive back to your hotel.
